Shared genetic variant uncovered in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder

A group of French researchers, led by Stéphane Jamain from Institut Mondor de Recherche Biomédicale (Paris, France), have uncovered that a genetic variant associated with multiple psychiatric disorders drives changes in brain networks and may, in turn, increase an individual’s risk of developing bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
